Alyssa Montalban was born on July 1, 1993. She trained at Gymstars Stockton through the spring of 2005. She then moved to Byers Sacramento. She will graduate from high school in 2011.

In 2004, Alyssa competed level four. She won bars and beam at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. She moved up to level five in the fall. She won the all-around title at the State Championships. In the fall of 2005, Alyssa competed level six. She finished first all-around at the River City Classic. She also won the all-around title at the Hollywood Invitational. At the State Championships, she placed first on beam and fourth all-around. Alyssa continued competing level six in the fall of 2006. She won the vault, beam, and all-around titles at the River City Classic and International Flip Fest. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the Compulsory Classic. Alyssa won the all-around titles at the Teddy Bear Classic and Goblin Games. At the Zone Championships, she won bars, beam, floor and the all-around. Alyssa finished first on bars, beam and the all-around at the State Championships.

Alyssa competed level seven in 2007. She won all five gold medals at the Crystal Cup. At the Golden State Classic, she placed second all-around. She finished third all-around at the State Championships. Alyssa moved up to level eight in 2008. She won vault and floor at the AOGC Invitational. At the California Classic, she finished first on vault, floor and the all-around. Alyssa won vault and floor at the Golden State Classic. At the State Championships, she placed first on vault and third all-around. Alyssa finished fourth all-around at Regionals. In 2009, Alyssa won vault, beam and the all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational. She placed first all-around at the Tachi Palace Invitational. At the Byers Invitational, she won vault, beam, floor and the all-around. Alyssa finished first on vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault, beam and the all-around.

She moved up to level nine in 2010. She won the all-around title at the Maryland Classic. At the Classic Rock Invitational, she placed second all-around. Alyssa finished third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished first on vault and second all-around. Alyssa placed third on vault, sixth on bars and third all-around at Westerns. She moved up to level ten in 2011. She won vault, floor and the all-around at the Delta Classic. At the Seattle Open, she won vault and beam. Alyssa finished first on vault at the State Championships. She finished in the top twenty all-around at Regionals.
