Samantha Montgomery was born to Ladson and Angie on September 10, 1995. She has two sisters. Amanda was a gymnast at the University of Alabama. Kelsie competed for Auburn. Her older brother was the starting catcher on the USA basbeall national team. Samantha is home schooled. She will graduate high school in 2014. She currently competes as a level ten with Jacksonville Academy of Gymnastics.
In 2001, Samantha won the level four State Championships. She moved up to level five in 2002. She finished first all-around. By 2005, Samantha was competing as a level ten. She finished sixth all-around at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals. Samantha tested to child pre-elite after the level ten season. She competed at the US Challenge. In 2006, Sam continued to compete as a level ten. In 2007, she finished third all-around at the Go For It Classic. She also placed third on bars and beam. At the Atlanta Crown Invitational, she placed second all-around. She won floor. At the Daytona Beach Open, she finished second all-around. She competed at Regionals where she qualified for JO Nationals. She had a good performance.
She had a great season in 2008. She finished third on bars at the Tampa Bay Classic. She won the Regional all-around and uneven bars titles. At JO Nationals, she won bars. She placed in the top twenty-five all-around. She then competed pre-elite at the US Challenge. She was the optional bars and beam champion. She won the all-around as well. That earned her an invitation the the US Developmental Team Training Camp. In 2010, Samantha finished fourth on bars at the Tim Rand Invitational. She finished first on floor and second all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished 19th all-around.
