Morgan Smith was born on April 11, 1994. She trains at Brandy Johnson's Global Gymnastics Academy.
In 2004, Morgan competed as a level seven. She finished fourth all-around at the Gasparilla Invitational. She won a silver medal at the Le Bon Temp meet. Morgan moved up to level eight in 2005. She finished second all-around at the Battle of the Champions and third all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational. Morgan won the Lightning City Classic. At States, she won the all-around title!
Morgan moved up to level nine in 2006. She won the Charleston Cup. At States, she finished third on vault! Morgan placed second on vault at Regionals. She qualified for Easterns. At Easterns, she placed in the top ten on vault and bars. After the JO Season, she competed as a hopes elite at the US Challenge.
She competed as a level ten in 2007. Morgan won the state all-around title. She finished third all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished in the top twenty! Morgan qualified to junior international elite shortly after the meet. At the US Classic, she qualified for the US National Championships!
In 2008, Morgan competed at the IGI Chicago Style. She won vault and placed third on vault. She earned a spot on the US National Team after being selected for an international meet in Italy. She helped the United States defeat Italy, Romania and Spain. At the US Classic, she finished fourth on bars. She placed sixth on vault and floor. At Nationals, she finished in the top twenty all-around.
Morgan started 2009 with the Presidential Classic. She finished second on bars. At the Gasparilla Classic, she won vault and bars. She did not compete all-around in either meet. In February, she placed fourth all-around at the American Classic. She finished second on vault. She qualified for the US National Championships. At the US Classic, she finished fifth all-around. Morgan placed sixth all-around at the US National Championships. She won a silver medal on bars. She was selected to compete at the Top Gym International but had to pull out due to illness.
In 2010, Morgan moved up to senior international elite and began her season in Italy at the Trofeo Citta di Jesolo. There, she helped the USA team to win the team title. Individually, she finished fourth in the all-around and fourth on uneven bars. At the US Covergirl Classic in Chicago, IL, MOrgan placed seventh overall. She then traveled to Hartford, CT for the VISA Championships, where she placed sixth on uneven bars and fifth on balance beam. She made the Senior US National Team.
