Mackenzie Sato was born on March 27, 1992. She trained at Hawaiian Island Twisters during her club career. She graduated from high school in 2010.

In 2000, Mackenzie competed level four. She placed first on beam at the Judges Cup. She competed level nine in 2005. She finished third all-around at the Ku'uipo Classic. She finished second on bars and floor at Regionals. She moved up to level ten in 2006. She finished third at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed eighth. In 2007, Mackenzie finished fourth at the AOGC Invitational. She finished second on vault and beam at the State Championships. She placed first on floor and second all-around at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals.

Mackenzie continued competing level ten in 2008. She won bars at Regionals. She finished third all-around, qualifying for JO Nationals In 2009, she won beam at the Gymnastics in Paradise meet. She finished first on floor and second all-around at Regionals. In 2010, she won floor at Regionals. She ended her club career at JO Nationals. She will attend Cornell.
