Kimiye Narasaki was born to Ellen and Keith on July 3, 1984. She graduated from a high school in Orinda, California. She trained at Golden Bear Gymnastics during her club career.

From 1997 to 2000, she competed as a level nine. She moved up to level ten in 2001. She finished sixth all-around at the Level 10 Regional Championships. This qualified her for the JO National Championships. In 2002, Kimiye qualified to Regionals.

In the fall, she began attending Sacramento State University. She qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships as an individual. She did not compete because of a knee injury suffered during warm-ups. As a sophomore, she was limited to five meets because of her knee injury. As a junior, she competed on bars and beam. She made her way into the floor lineup in the last few meets. Kimiye competed on all four events throughout her senior year.
