Nia Dennis was born on February 3, 1999. She trained at Integrity Gymnastics until the 2008 season. She then began training at Buckeye.

In 2006, Nia competed level four. She placed second all-around at the Ohio State Championships, winning vault and floor. Nia competed level five in 2005. She won the all-around title at the Super Challenge. At the State Championships, she finished second on vault and fifth all-around. In 2007, she competed level seven. Nia placed second all-around at the Twistars Invitational. She won beam and the all-around at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. At the Fiesta Bowl Invitational, she won floor and placed second all-around. Nia also won floor at the Buckeye Classic. She ended her season at the State Championships where she placed third in the all-around and second in bars and floor. She made the National TOPs Team in the fall.

Nia competed level eight in 2009. She won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. At the Buckeye Classic, she placed second in the all-around and first on bars. Nia won a silver medal on bars at the Palm Beach Invitational. She won floor and the all-around at the Arena Classic. She finished fourth all-around at States. Nia won a silver medal on floor and a bronze medal on vault. At Regionals, she won beam, floor and the all-around! Following the level eight season, Nia qualified for hopes. She finished fourth on balance beam at the US Challenge. In the fall, Nia made her second National TOPs Team. She also participated in Developmental Elite Training Camps. This along with her performance at the US Challenge earned her a spot on the USA National Team Training Squad!

In 2010, Nia competed both level nine and hopes. She won vault and the all-around at the Universal Galaxy meet. At the Metroplex Challenge, she finished third all-around in the hopes division. Nia won beam, floor and the all-around at the Arnold Gymnastics Challenge. She won floor at the State Championships. She placed second all-around.
