Stephanie Elizabeth Neff was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on September 22, 1988. She is the daughter of Steve and Sue. She began gymnastics in 1996 at the age of six at Parkettes. In 2002, she moved to Arizona. Stephanie then began training at Carter's Gymnastics with Jack Carter.
In 1997, Stephanie was the level six Sectional All-Around Champion! She also won beam. In 1998, she jumped all the way up to level nine. She won beam at States. Stephanie qualified to Easterns from Level 9 Regionals. In the fall, she was named to the National TOPS Team. Stephanie moved up to level ten in 1999. At the Section Championships, she won beam and finished second all-around. After States, she competed at Regionals. Stephanie finished second on beam. In the fall, she was named to her second National TOPS Team. Stephanie repeated level ten in 2000. She had a great season in 2001. At the PA State Championships, she placed second on vault. At Regionals, Stephanie won the All-around title! She also won vault. Following Regionals, she competed at the JO National Championships. She finished fifth on vault!
After the level ten season, she qualified to junior national elite. She won the American Challenge all-around and floor tittles. At the National Gymnastics Festival, she won floor. Stephanie continued to compete as a junior national elite in 2002. With her next gym, she placed second all-around at the New Mexico Classic and Fiesta Bowl Invitational. At the US Challenge, Stephanie won the all-around title! In 2003, she qualified to junior international elite.
2004 was her first year as a senior international elite. She competed at the US Classic! She made this level again in 2005. Stephanie opted to compete as a level ten in 2006. At the Arizona State Championships, she swept all five gold medals! At Regionals, she finished first on bars. Her last meet was the JO National Championships. Stephanie finished first on bars and second on floor. She finished second all-around! This qualified her for the JO National Team!
In June of 2006, she was named Arizona's Most Outstanding Level 10 Gymnast! Stephanie began school at the University of Utah in the fall of 2006. She missed the first half of her freshman year because of an injury back. She came back to compete on floor in six straight meets. She competed on bars against Nebraska. She made the Athletics Academic Honor Roll and was an NACGC Scholastic All-American. As a sophomore, she earned a starting spot on floor after being sidelined. She decided to retire after her sophomore season because of her back injury.
