Samantha Nelson was born on April 15, 1995. She trained at Baker School of Gymnastics until 2005. She then moved to Yellow Jackets Gymnastics through the 2006 season. Samantha began training at Brestyans in 2007. She moved to Ace in the summer of 2011. She will graduate from high school in 2013.

In 2005, Samantha competed level five. She qualified to both Spring and Winter States. She moved up to level six in 2006. She placed second all-around at the State Championships. She won bars. She competed level seven in 2007. She won vault, floor and the all-around. Samantha moved up to level eight in 2008. She finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Friendship Classic. She won the State Championships. At Regionals, she won bars, beam and the all-around.

Samantha competed level nine in 2009. She won floor at both the Brestyan Invitational and Parkette Invitational. She finished second on vault at the City of Lights Invitational. Samantha finished second all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won floor and finished third all-around. Samantha placed third on floor at Easterns. She finished 12th all-around. She began competing level ten in 2010. Samantha finished third on beam at the Brestyans Invitational. She won floor and finished second all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won floor. She placed second all-around. Samantha competed at JO Nationals. In 2011, Samantha finished second alla-round at the Starlight Invitational. She placed first on floor and third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won floor and the all-around. Samantha placed second on floor at JO Nationals.
