Kristen Nogaki was born on August 31, 1996. Her older sister, Katy, was also a gymnast. Kristen formerly trained at Kips Gymnastics. She moved to Gym-Max in 2004. Both sisters moved to Wildfire in the spring of 2010. Kristen will graduate from high school in 2015.
In 2004, Kristen competed level five. She won bars and placed second all-around at the Sectional meet. At the State Team Championships, she had the fourth highest score on vault. She moved up to level six in 2005. At the First Prelim, she won bars and beam. She finished second all-around. She next won bars and floor at the Judges Cup on her way to finishing second all-around. At the 2nd Prelim, she won beam and placed second all-around. Kristen finished third all-around at the Butterfly Classic. She won floor and the all-around at the 3rd Prelim. Kristen won a bronze on vault at the West Sectional meet. She ended her season by winning vault, bars, beam and the all-around at States. She finished second on floor.
She moved up to level seven in 2006. She finished third on vault and in the all-around at the San Diego Classic. She placed second on bars. At the Long Beach Open, she finished third on bars and beam. At the State Championships, she won vault and floor. She placed second all-around. In 2007, she competed level eight. She won floor and placed second all-around at the LA Classic. At the Long Beach Open, she won vault and the all-around. At the State Championships, she won vault, bars and the all-around. She ended her season by winning bars, beam, floor and the all-around at Regionals. She finished second on vault.
Kristen began competing level nine in 2008. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the Top Flight Invite. She tied for fourth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won beam. She finished second all-around. She won vault at Westerns. She finished 16th all-around. She opened 2009 by winning beam and the all-around at the Team OC Invitational as a level ten. She next won beam and finished second all-around at the Long Beach Open. Kristen narrowly missed making international elite at the Palm Beach Invitational. At the American Challenge, Kristen had the highest compulsory score. She finished second in the optional portion, earning her international elite score. In July, Kristen competed at the US Classic. Kristen competed at the Long Beach Open in the spring of 2010. She won a bronze on beam.
