Nicole Shapiro was born on August 12, 1997. Her older sister, Samantha, is also a gymnast. They both train at All Olympia Gymnastics Center in Los Angeles, California. She will graduate from high school in 2015.

In 2005, Nicole began competing level five. She swept the gold medals at the 1st Prelim. At the Judges Cup, she won every even except for placing second on bars. She again swept the gold medals at the 3rd Prelim. Nicole placed in the top ten at the Sectional meet. She ended her season winning vault and bars at State. She placed second on floor and third all-around. She moved up to level six in 2006. Nicole won vault, floor and the all-around at the Go For It Classic. She placed second at the All Olympia Invitational and third at the Friendship Challenge. At the All Olympia Spring Invitational, she won vault, beam and the all-around. In the fall, Nicole won the all-around at the 2nd Prelim and 3rd Prelim. At the Sectional meet, she won vault, bars, floor and the all-around. Nicole won vault, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. Nicole earned a spot on the National TOPs Team.

She immediately moved into level seven in January of 2007. She broke the 39 barrier at her first meet, the Sand Dollar Invitational. An elbow injury kept her out for most of the season. She returned to win vault, beam and the all-around at the State Championships. In the fall, she qualified for the National TOPs Team. She moved up to level eight in 2008. She competed on bars and beam at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational and All Olympia Invitational. At the Friendship Challenge, she won bars. Nicole placed third all-around at States. She won beam. She ended her season at Regionals, winning floor. She placed second all-around.

Nicole continued competing level eight in 2009. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Surf City Classic. At the All Olympia Invitational, she won beam, floor and the all-around again. At State, she placed second on beam and in the all-around. She won floor. Nicole ended her season at Regionals, winning beam. She placed second all-around. She moved up to level nine in 2010. She finished first on bars and in the all-around at the All Olympia Invitational. At the Long Beach Open, she won vault, floor and the all-around. She placed second at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished second on floor and fourth all-around. She ended her season at Westerns, winning vault and placed eighth all-around.

She began competing level ten in 2011. Nicole finished first on floor and third all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational.
