Gina Nuccio was born on February 23, 1990. She trained at American Institute until the 2003 season. She then began competing for Arena Gymnastics under Dan and Beth Miller. She began attending the University of Georgia in the fall of 2008.

In 2002, Gina competed level nine. She finished fifth all-around at Easterns. She finished second on vault and first on bars. She moved up to level ten in 2003. At States, she finished second all-around. She won bars. Gina won her next meet, the Regional Championships. At JO Nationals, she finished sixth all-around and second on bars. She did not compete in 2004.

She returned in 2005 to finish second all-around at the State Championships. She won bars and beam. At Regionals, she won the all-around, bars and beam. She did not compete at JO Nationals. In 2006, she finished second all-around at the Regional Championships. She won uneven bars. At JO Nationals, she won vault, bars, beam and the all-around! She was named to the JO National Team. Gina was also selected as the Region 5 JO Athlete of the Year.

Gina had a great 2007 season. She finished second on bars at the Hard Rock Invitational. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the Gymquarters Invite. At JO Nationals, she won vault, bars and the all-around. She made her second JO National Team. She also was named Region 5 JO Athlete of the Year for the second time. During her final year as a club gymnast in 2008, she had a great season. She won bars and floor at the Surf City Classic. At the Arena Classic, she won vault, bars, floor and the all-around. Gina won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won bars and placed second all-around. She won bars and floor at JO Nationals. She finished third all-around.

As a freshman at Georgia, Gina struggled with medical problems. Despite this, she posted several solid scores on bars. She also competed on vault and beam. She was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
