Alexa Okamura was born on May 22, 1994. She trained at Emerald City Gymnastics until the conclusion of the 2006 season. She then began training at Gymnastics East.

In 2003, Alexa competed level four. She won floor and the all-around at the Goblin Cup. She finished third on vault. She competed level six in the fall of 2005. She finished tenth all-around at the State Championships. In 2006, she competed level seven. She placed in the top ten at the Emerald Team Challenge. She continued competing level seven in 2007. She won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Flips USA Invitational. At the Seattle Open, she won beam and finished third all-around. Alexa placed second on vault, floor and in the all-around at the State Championships.

Alexa moved up to level eight in 2008. She finished fifth on bars and floor at the Battle in Seattle meet. She qualified for the Regional Championships where she placed eighth all-around. She won a silver medal on floor. She moved up to level nine in 2009. She placed third on bars and beam at the Gymnastics in Paradise Meet. She won a silver medal on floor and in the all-around. Alexa won beam and placed second all-around at the Great West Gym Fest. She finished in the top ten at States. At Regionals, she finished second on beam and first on floor. She placed third all-around! She ended her season by placing tenth all-around at Westerns. She finished sixth on beam!

She continued competing level nine in 2010. Alexis finished third on beam at the State Championships. She did not compete in the all-around. At Regionals, she placed second on vault and in the all-around. She won beam. Alexis placed sixth on bars, fifth on beam and fifth all-around at Westerns! She moved up to level ten in 2011. She finished fourth on beam at the Battle in Seattle meet. She placed in the top fiften at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second on beam and floor. Alexa competed at JO Nationals. In 2012, she finished fourth all-around at the Seattle open. She won beam at the Charity Choice Invitational. She placed second on beam at the State Championships.
