Nicole Ourada was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 5, 1987. She is the daughter of Dave and Sue Ourada. She has a brother, Chris. Nicole graduated in the top ten percent of her high school class at Germantown High School. She played two years of varsity tennis. During her club career, Nicole trained at LaFleur's Gymnastics.
In 1996, Nicole made her first TOPs National Team. She made it again in 1998 and 1999. In 2000, she competed at the American Challenge as a TOPs Elite. She finished fifth overall. Nicole moved up to junior international elite in 2001. She competed at the US Classic. Nicole continued competing as a junior international elite in 2002. She finished in the top fifteen at the American Classic. She returned to level ten in 2004. Nicole placed sixth all-around at JO Nationals after winning Regionals. She placed third on bars and second on beam and floor. In 2005, Nicole won every event at Regionals except for beam. At JO Nationals, she placed third all-around and on floor. She finished fourth on bars and beam.
She began attending Stanford in the fall of 2005. Nicole made an impact in her freshman season. She competed in the all-around at several meets. During her sophomore season, Nicole also competed in the all-around. She earned first-team All-American honors on beam after placing third at the NCAA Championships. She was a second-team All-American in vault and the all-around. She was also an All-Pac-10 selection. As a junior, Nicole earned second-team All-American honors in the all-around. She finished tenth on beam in event finals to earn first-team All-American honors. She was on the Pac-10 All-Academic team. In 2009, she earned All-American honors on uneven bars. She won the Pac-10 title on bars and floor. She earned second-team All-American honors on floor. Nicole won the NCAA Regional title on vault.
