Madison Pearsall was born on June 15, 1989. Her younger sister, Samantha, also competed in gymnastics. Madison trained at Illinois Gymnastics Institute. She graduated from high school in 2007.

In 2000, Madison competed level seven. She placed second on floor at the State Championships. She competed level ten in 2003. She finished in the top ten at Regionals. In 2004, Madison finished second on floor at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals. She placed second on beam at the 2005 Regional Championships. She finished tenth on floor at JO Nationals. In 2006, Madison won vault at the Regional Championships. She placed second all-around. At JO Nationals, she placed eighth on vault and tenth on floor. She finished 14th all-around. In 2007, Madison won vault at the State Championships. She competed at her fourth JO National Championships.

As a freshman at Cornell in 2008, Madison was named ECAC Rookie of the Year. She qualified to the NCAA Regional Championships as an individual. She won floor at the Ivy Classic. At the USAG Collegiate National Championships, she earned All-American honors on vault, floor and the all-around. During her sophomore season, she placed third all-around at the ECAC Championships. She helped her team win the USAG Collegiate National Championships with a career best in the all-around. In 2010, she earned USAG All-American honors on bars. She earned first-team Academic All-District honors in 2009, 2010 and 2011. Madison was a first-team Capital One Academic All-America At-Large selection in 2011.
