Matalasiaufaiga Peko was born on June 7, 1994. She simply goes by Asi. Asi trained at Gymcats until 2006. She then moved to Brown's Gymnastics Las Vegas.

In 2004, Asi competed as a level eight. She won the Lady Luck Invitational. At States, she finished second all-around. Asi won bars and beam. Her final meet of the season was Regionals. She finished third all-around. She won a silver medal on beam. Asi moved up to level nine in 2005. She finished second all-around at States. She won vault and bars. At Regionals, she won a silver medal on bars.

Asi moved up to level ten in 2006. She finished second on vault at the Lady Luck Invitational. At the Cactus Cooler, she won the all-around title. Asi won the all-around, floor and vault titles at States. At Regionals, she won the all-around and floor titles. She finished her season off at the JO National Championships. She won a silver medal on beam.

She continued competing as a level ten in 2007. She won the Lady Luck Invitational, Go For It Classic and Spirit of the Flame Challenge. She placed second all-around at AH! At States, she swept the gold medals. Asi finished third all-around at Regionals. She won floor. At JO Nationals, Asi finished second all-around! She won bars. In July, she competed at the US Challenge as a junior pre-elite.

In 2008, Asi won the Lady Luck Invitational. She finished third all-around at the Hard Rock Invitational. She placed second at the Harley Davidson Battle in Seattle. She swept the gold medals at the Level 10 State Championships. At the May Elite Qualifier, Asi won the all-around and qualified for the US National Championships. At the US Classic, she finished seventh all-around. At US Nationals, she finished fourth all-around. She made the US National Team! She won the Lady Luck Invitational again in 2009. At the Metroplex Challenge, she won bars and placed third on beam. She missed the summer elite season due to injuries.

Asi returned to level ten in 2010. She won balance beam at the Lady Luck Invitational and Wine Country Classic. She also won bars at the latter. At the AOGC Invitational, she won bars. Asi won vault, bars, and the all-around at the Long Beach Open. She finished second on beam and floor. At States, she won vault. Asi finished second all-around with a 38.275.
