Taylor Penzien was born on March 8, 1994. She trains at Olympia Gymnastics Academy in Michigan. She will graduate from high school in 2012.

In 2004, Taylor competed level seven. She moved up to level eight in 2005. She finished twelfth all-around at Regionals. Taylor competed level nine in 2007. She finished third on vault at the Motown Madness meet. In 2008, Taylor competed at Easterns. She finished in the top twenty all-around. Taylor began competing level ten in 2009. She competed at Regionals.

Taylor did not compete all-around during the 2010 season. She returned to all-around classic in December, winning bars and the all-around at the Christmas Classic. In 2011, Taylor won bars and floor at the Sand Dollar Invitational. She placed second on bars at the Athlete Warrior Challenge. At the Motown madness meet, she won beam, floor and the all-around. She placed first on floor and second all-around at the State Championships. Taylor placed in the top ten at Regionals. At the JO national invitational Tournament, she finished fourth on bars and tenth all-around.
