Chelsea Perna was born on July 18, 1992. She will graduate from Caravel Academy in 2010. Chelsea trained at Diamond Gymnastics in Delaware until November 2007. She moved to Docksiders Gymnastics in Maryland where she trained until the summer of 2009. Chelsea moved to First State Gymnastics. Chelsea has committed to LSU where she will begin in the fall of 2010.

In 2002, Chelsea competed level five. She finished third all-around at the Nation's Capital Cup. She won gold medals on vault and bars. Chelsea competed level eight in 2004. At Regionals, she finished second on vault. She won bars and the all-around title! She moved up to level nine in 2005. She finished second on beam and third on floor. At Regionals, she competed against fifty-one competitors. Chelsea finished fifteenth! This qualified her for the Level 9 Eastern Championships. She placed 22nd all-around. In August of 2005, Chelsea had surgery to remove cartilage from her left elbow. Despite this injury, she went on to a great 2006 season. At Regionals, Chelsea placed seventh all-around out of forty gymnastics. She finished in the top five on vault and floor. Her final level 9 meet was Easterns. She won the vault and all-around titles!

Chelsea moved up to level ten for the 2007 season. At the Christmas of the Chesapeake meet in December 2006 she won floor. She finished fourth on vault. She did not compete at many meets due to an injury. In November of 2007, Chelsea moved to Docksiders in Maryland, which requires over an hour commute daily. Her first meet, the Christmas on the Chesapeake, was in December. She won vault and finished second on floor. In January, Chelsea won the open session at the Maryland Classic. During event finals, she finished third on vault, second on beam and floor, and first on bars. Chelsea finished fourth on vault at the Metroplex Challenge in Texas. Chelsea won the vault title at States. Her next meet was Regionals. She finished second on vault, floor and in the all-around. This qualified her for her first JO National Championships. Chelsea had an amazing meet and finished second all-around. By placing in the top four, she made the JO National Team.

In December of 2008, Chelsea won vault and beam at the Christmas on the Chesapeake meet. She placed second all-around. She started 2009 with the Parkettes Invitational. She won vault, bars and beam at the Sweetheart Invitational. At the Malibu Coast Challenge, she won a bronze medal on vault. Chelsea won the all-around and vault at States. She finished tenth all-around at Regionals. Following the season, Chelsea moved to First State Gymnastics because of the long commute to Docksiders.
