Melanee Pfautz was born on June 15, 1993. She trained at Twin City Twisters during her club career. She graduated from high school in 2011.

In 2005, Melanee competed level six. Melanee competed level eight in 2007. She finished third all-around at Regionals. She also placed third on vault. In 2008, Melanee finished in the top ten all-around at Regionals. Melanee moved up to level nine in 2009. She finished second on vault and bars at the IGI Chicago Style. At the Northern Lights Classic, she finished first on bars and third all-around. Melanee placed first on bars at the Byers Invitational. At the Rising Stars Invitational, she placed second on bars. Melanee finished first on vault, bars and the all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed fifth on bars and the all-around.

Melanee continued competing level nine in 2010. She finished fourth all-around at the Gopher Invite. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the Winter Challenge. At the IGI Chicago Style, she placed third all-around. Melanee finished second all-around at the Long beach Open. She won bars and the all-around at the Northern Lights Classic. At the State Championships, she placed first on bars and third all-around. Melanee won bars at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed third on vault, fourth on floor and sixth all-around. In 2011, Melanee finished third all-around at the Gopher Invite. At the Sand Dollar invitational, she won vault, bars, floor and the all-around. She placed third all-around at the IGI Chicago Style. At the Northern Lights Classic, she finished first on bars and the all-around. Melanee won the all-around title at the Rising Stars Invitational. At the State Championships, she placed first on bars, floor and the all-around. Melanee won bars and the all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed fifth on vault, fourth on bars, ninth on floor and sixth all-around.
