Kimberly Pickerl was born on May 21, 1992. She trained at Naperville Gymnastics as a compulsory athlete. She spent most of her club career at Aerial Gymnastics. She graduated from high school in 2011.
In 2000, Kimberly competed level five. She competed level seven in 2003. She finished in the top fifteen all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 2004. She finished in the top ten at Regionals. Kimberly competed level nine in 2005. She competed at Regionals. In 2006, she placed sixth on vault, fifth on bars, sixth on floor and seventh all-around at Easterns. Kimberly began competing level ten in 2007. She finished third all-around at the Midwest Open. In 2008, she finished second all-around at the State Championships. Kimberly placed third on floor at the 2009 Midwest Open. She finished third on bars at Regionals. She competed at JO Nationals. In 2010, she competed on bars only for most of the season. She finished in the top fifteen at Regionals. At the JO National Invitational Tournament, she placed third on vault.
As a freshman at SEMO in 2011, Kimberly competed on beam against Illinois State.
