Gena Pitts was born on July 17, 1996. She trains at Texas Dreams in Coppell, Texas.
In 2004, Gena was named to the Diamond National TOP Team. This is for seven and eight year-olds. In 2005, she was named to the National TOPs "B" Team as a nine-year-old. She competed as a level seven during the 2006 season. She finished third all-around at the NAWGJ Judges Cup. She won beam and finished second on bars. At the TWU State Qualifier, Gena placed in the top ten. She was named to the National TOPs Team in the fall.
Gena competed as a level nine in 2007. She competed at the WOGA Classic and Sand Dollar Invitational. Gena had the third highest score in the hopes division at the May Elite Qualifier. She finished eleventh at the US Challenge. In 2008, she continued competing level nine and hopes. She finished second all-around in the Hopes division at the Parkette Invitational Elite Qualifier. Gena finished third on vault at the Texas Prime Meet. She competed in the US Challenge. She placed in the top ten. She moved up to level ten in 2009. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the National Gymnastics Challenge. She placed in the top ten at the State Championships. In July, she qualified to junior international elite at the July National Qualifier. She competed at the US Classic.
In 2010, Gena competed level ten. She finished third all-around at the Texas Prime meet. She placed second all-around at the WOGA Classic. Gena finished fourth all-around at the State Championships. She finished second on bars at Regionals. Gena placed sixth on floor and 13th all-around at JO Nationals. She finished third all-around at the 2011 Twistars Invitational. At the WOGA Classic, she won beam. Gena finished first on bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Purple and Gold meet. She finished second on vault at the State Championships. At Regionals, Gena placed fourth all-around. She competed at JO Nationals.
