Kailie Ponto was born on January 30, 1993. She trained at Northwest Aerials through the 2005 season. She then moved to Leading Edge Gymnastics Academy. She graduated from high school in 2011.

In 2003, Kailie competed level five. She won the all-around title at Seattle Sectionals. She competed level eight in 2005. She placed first on beam at the California Classic. She won floor at the State Championships. She finished first on floor at Regionals. She continued competing level eight in 2006. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the San Diego Classic. She placed first on beam and second all-around at Regionals. Kailie moved up to level nine in 2007. She won five gold medals at the Flips USA Invitational. She finished first on floor at the Seattle Open. She placed first all-around at the Hard Rock Invitational. She won floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She placed first on floor and second all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed tenth on bars, seventh on beam, third on floor and sixth all-around.

Kailie began competing level ten in 2008. She finished first on floor at both the Battle in Seattle and Emerald Team Challenge. At Regionals, she won floor. She placed second all-around. She competed at JO Nationals where she finished 26th all-around. In 2009, Kailie won floor and finished second all-around at both the MAC Open and Great West Gym Fest. She won floor and placed third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished second on floor and fifth all-around. Kailie won beam at JO Nationals. She finished 24th all-around. In 2010, Kailie finished third all-around at the Seattle Open and Battle in Seattle meet. She placed second on vault at the State Championships. She finished second all-around at Regionals. Kailie competed on beam and floor at the 2011 State Championships.
