Natalie Marie Ratcliff was born to Cindy and Steve in Olathe, Kansas, on October 30, 1988. She has two younger sisters. Natalie began gymnastics when she was seven years old. A few months, later she won the level five state championships. Natalie trained at GAGE for a few years before switching to Diamond Gymnastics for personal reasons. After the coaches left, she moved back to GAGE.

In the spring of 2000, she qualified for the level nine Western Championships. She placed third all-around. In 2001, Natalie competed as a level ten. She made it to the JO National Championships. She repeated this feat in 2002. She qualified to junior national elite. At the American Challenge, she finished first overall. At the US Classic, Natalie placed first all-around in the optional portion. She qualified for junior international elite in 2003! She competed at the USA vs. Japan meet. Natalie then competed at the Podium Meet. At the American Classic, she missed qualifying to nationals by one spot. However, she won the gold on beam! Natalie had to petition to nationals since she could not compete at the US Classic. Natalie finished her season at Nationals. She struggled with her recent foot injury. A broken foot kept her out of the 2004 season.

After returning to GAGE in 2005, Natalie decided to compete as a level ten only. She won the Mardi Gras Invitational and Dragon Invitational. At States, she took home the all-around, vault and floor titles. Natalie went on to place second at Regionals. At the JO National Championships, she finished fifth all-around! In 2006, she qualified to her fourth JO National Championships. In November, she signed with the University of Oklahoma! In 2007, she finished second all-around at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. At JO Nationals, she finished 20th all-around.

As a freshman in 2008, she competed on vault throughout the season. She finished second against Central Michigan in her first competition. In 2009, she earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 Team. She continued to compete on vault. She also earned a spot on beam.
