Kiara Redmond was born on March 14, 1985. She is the daughter of Mark and Kathy Redmond. She has five siblings. They are Courtney, Brian, Danielle, Jeremy and Jesse. She trained at Eric Will Gymnastics during her club career. She then moved to Charter Oak Gliders. She competed for SCATS Huntington Beach in 2004 and 2005. She began gymnastics at the age of seven.

In 2001, Kiara competed as a level ten. She finished first on vault and second on bars at the California State Championships. She placed third in the all-around. At Regionals, she won the all-around title. Kiara went on to place sixth on beam at JO Nationals. At the 2002 JO National Championships, she finished first on floor and in the all-around! In 2003, Kiara placed third all-around at Regionals. She won beam and floor. At JO Nationals, she placed second in the all-around. She defended her floor title.

Kiara had a great 2004 season. She finished first on bars and floor at States. She finished second all-around. At Regionals, she won bars and floor. Kiara placed third all-around. She finished seventh all-around at JO Nationals with a fall on beam! She won floor and finished second on bars. Kiara finished first on everything but beam at the State Championships in 2005. She then took home the Regional all-around title. At JO nationals, she finished second all-around. She finished in the top five on all four events.

After attending a junior college, Kiara began attending the University of Oklahoma in the fall of 2005. She competed as an all-arounder right away. She recorded the best finish at the NCAA Championships. She earned second-tea, All-American status on floor and in the all-around. During her senior season, she finished second on beam at the Big 12 Championships. She scored a ten on vault.

In 2007, she earned first-team All-American honors on vault, floor and in the all-around. She finished fourth on floor in event finals. She won floor at the NCAA Regional Championships where she also finished second all-around. She scored a perfect ten on vault at the TWU quad meet. She also earned the all-around title. Kiara earned several event titles throughout the season including the vault against Alabama. She also won floor and the all-around against Stanford. Kiara earned Big 12 Event Specialist of the Week in January.

She ended her career with a great season in 2008. She was named Big 12 Gymnast of the Year after earning All-Big 12 honors on all four events. She won vault and floor at the Big 12 Championships. She earned seven Big 12 Gymnast of the Week honors which was a record. She earned perfect tens on vault twice. She was the first OU gymnast to score two perfect tens in one season.
