Phylicia Reshard was born on June 21, 1989. She is the daughter of Leroy and Audrey. She has an older sister, Shawna. Phylicia began gymnastics in 1993. She trained at GTC of Ohio until 2002. She then switched to Gym-Nation. Phylicia moved to Flip N Twist for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. She returned to Gym-Nation in 2007. She signed with the University of Kentucky in November 2006.

In 2002, Phylicia competed as a level nine. She qualified to Easterns. She finished third all-around and second on vault. Phylicia moved up to level ten in 2003. She competed at the JO National Championships. In 2004, she finished third all-around at the Buckeye Classic. Phylicia placed third on vault at Regionals in 2005. In 2006, she finished fifth on vault and beam at Regionals.

Phylicia had a great 2007 season. She finished fourth all-around at States. She won floor. At Regionals, Phylicia finished sixth all-around! She was also fourth on vault. Her final club meet was JO Nationals. She finished fourth on vault and eighth on floor. Phylicia placed in the top twenty all-around.

As a freshman at Kentucky, she competed on vault in all fifteen meets. She competed on bars in the first nine meets of the season. She made the SEC Academic Honor Roll. During her sophomore season in 2009, she performed on vault and floor during the latter half of the season. She earned a 9.800 at the SEC Championships on vault. She also competed twice on beam. She was a member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the second time.
