Monica Riley was born on August 20, 1997. She trained at Metroplex Gymnastics in the beginning of her competitive career. She moved to Top Flight before the 2008 season. She will graduate from high school in 2015.
In 2005, Monica competed level five. She finished tenth at the Rising Stars Invitational. She finished 12th all-around at the State Championships. She continued competing level five in 2006. She placed third all-around at the District Championships. She won bars and floor. In 2008, Monica competed level seven. She placed second on bars and floor at the Rose City Classic. At the South Padre Extravaganza, she won a bronze medal in the all-around. Monica moved up to level eight. She finished second all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the Metroplex Challenge, she placed third on bars. Monica finished second all-around at the Rose City Classic. She placed in the top ten at State, qualifying for Regionals. Monica placed 12th all-around out of more then 50 competitors.
Monica moved up to level nine in 2010. She won vault, bars and the all-around at the Winter Cup. At the Metroplex Challenge, she finished third all-around and first on bars. She finished fourth all-around at both the Rose City Classic and Kurt Thomas Invitational. At State, she finished in the top ten. Monica placed third all-around, first on vault, and second on bars and floor at Regionals. She ended her season with a third place finish at Westerns. She also placed second on vault.
