Jordan Salsberg was born on September 10, 1991. She began gymnastics at the age of five at Lanier's Gymnastics in Mississippi. She graduated from high school in 2009.
In 2002, Jordan competed in advanced prep-optional. She placed third all-around at the State Championships. She competed level seven in 2003, winning bars, beam and the all-around at the State Championships. As a level eight in 2004, Jordan won bars and beam at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the State Championships. In 2005, Jordan began competing level nine. She won bars at the State Championships. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the 2006 State Championships. She finished third all-around at Regionals. At Easterns, Jordan placed ninth all-around and tenth on vault.
Jordan began competing level ten in 2007. She won all five events at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished seventh all-around. She competed at JO Nationals. Jordan again won all five gold medals at the State Championships in 2008. At JO Nationals, she won beam and finished 24th all-around. Jordan won the all-around titles at both the 2009 Southern Classic and Edgewater Classic. She placed first on vault, beam and the all-around at the State Championships. She finished second on beam at Regionals.
As a freshman at SEMO in 2009, she competed in the all-around nine times. She won thirteen individual titles during the season, including two in the all-around, five on vault and bars and one on beam. She earned first-team All-Conference honors on beam and in the all-around and second-team on vault and bars. Jordan was named MIC Specialist of the Week and All-Arounder of the Week honors. Additionally, she earned SEMO'S Freshman of the Year award. In 2011, Jordan competed in the all-around in every meet except for one. She won beam twice, at Kentucky and at Illinois-Chicago. She finished third all-around at LSU.
