Megan Satterlee was born to Richard and Maura on July 3, 1989. She has two brothers, Eric and Ryan. Megan trained at Cincinnati Gymnastics during her club career.

In 2002, Megan competed level nine. She finished second all-around at the State Championships. Megan placed high enough at Regionals to qualify to the Eastern Championships. She moved up to level ten in 2003. She was an Ohio State Champion and a JO National Qualifier. Megan qualified to JO Nationals by placing third all-around at Regionals. In 2004, Megan qualified to her second JO Nationals. She also competed as a junior pre-elite at the American Challenge and US Challenge. Megan won States again in 2005. She placed fifth all-around at Regionals. She also qualified to the JO Nationals. She finished 12th all-around and third on bars. Megan competed level ten in 2006 and 2007.

As a freshman at Bowling Green, she competed in six meets on beam and floor. She vaulted four times. An injury ended her season.
