Jordan Sexton was born on May 18, 1988. She trained at Southeastern Gymnastics Center throughout her club career. She graduated from high school in 2006.

In 1998, Jordan competed level seven. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 1999. She won vault and bars at the State Championships. In 2000, Jordan competed level nine. She won vault and finished second all-around at the State Championships. She placed in the top ten at Regionals. At Easterns, Jordan finished in the top ten on bars. In 2001, Jordan won beam at the State Championships. She finished first on floor at Regionals. At Easterns, Jordan placed fourth on floor and seventh on bars and in the all-around.

Jordan moved up to level ten in 2002. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault. She finished 25th all-around at JO Nationals. In 2003, Jordan won bars, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She finished second all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed third on bars and sixth on floor. She finished 16th all-around. Jordan won the all-around title at Regionals in 2004. She finished in the top twenty all-around. In 2005, Jordan finished first all-around at the Charleston Cup, Sweetheart meet and Buckeye Classic. At the State Championships, she won beam, floor and the all-around. Jordan finished second all-around at Regionals and 28th all-around at JO Nationals. She did not compete in the all-around at the State Championships in 2006. At Regionals, she finished fourth all-around. Jordan placed fourth on beam and 20th all-around at JO Nationals.

As a freshman at Michigan in 2007, she redshirted the season due to injury after competing three events against West Virginia. In 2008, Jordan returned competing on bars and beam throughout the season. She finished third on beam at North Carolina State and Penn State. She won beam at Nebraska. In 2009, Jordan was named to the Academic All-Big Ten Team. She finished second on beam at Regionals. Jordan competed on beam and floor throughout the season. She finished first on floor at the Cancun Classic and Michigan Classic. She won beam against Penn State. In 2010, Jordan was an NCAA All-American second-tem on beam. She won bars at Regionals. She continued competing on beam and floor in addition to bars. Academically, Jordan was named to the All-Big Ten Academic Team.
