Ankita Shah was born on October 20, 1991. She trained at West Valley Gymnastics through the 2007 season. She then moved to Bay Aerials. She graduated from high school in 2009.

In 2002, Ankita competed level seven. She placed second on bars at the State Championships. She moved up to level eight in 2003. She finished fourth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second on vault. She competed level nine in 2004. She finished sixth all-around at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals. In 2005, she placed third on bars at the Golden State Classic. She finished second on bars at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished eleventh all-around. She competed at Westerns.

Ankita began competing level ten in 2006. She finished fifth all-around at the San Diego Classic. She competed at Regionals. In 2007, she finished sixth all-around at the State Championships. She did not compete in 2008. In 2009, she placed third on floor at the Delta Classic. She finished third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished seventh all-around. She competed at JO Nationals.

As a freshman at Cal in 2010, Ankita did not compete. She competed in two meets in 2011. She competed on vault at Washington and on beam at Sacramento State.
