Elaina Shakun was born on March 10, 1996. Her younger sister, Olivia, is also a gymnast. Elaina trains at Acros Gymnastics in Indiana. She will graduate from high school in 2015.

In 2004, Elaina competed level five. She moved up to level seven in 2005. In 2006, Elaine qualified to Level 8 Regionals! In 2007, Elaine finished first on vault at the WOGA Classic. She finished second on floor and in the all-around at Regionals. She competed level nine in 2008. She won vault and finished third all-around at the State Championships.

Elaina continued competing level nine in 2009. She placed first on vault at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. She finished third all-around. At the WOGA Classic, she finished second on vault. Elaina won vault at Regionals. She competed at Easterns. In 2010, she won vault and the all-around at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. She finished fourth all-around at the Gateway Challenge.
