Michelle Shealy won born on July 10, 1992. She currently resides in Snellville, Georgia. Michelle began gymnastics in 1996 and currently trains at Gwinnett Gymnastics Center under Dan Thaxton. She enjoys contemporary Christian music and church actives. When she has the chance to watch television, Michelle likes the Brady Bunch. Her favorite food is seafood paste. She graduated from high school in 2010.
Generally, the ten level junior olympic program can take several years to complete. Michelle went from level four in 2000 to level ten in 2004. At the 2000 Atlanta Crown, she won the all-around title. She jumped up to level six at the 2001 Atlanta Crown. By 2002, she was competing level eight Michelle placed first all-around at the Charleston Cup. She competed two seasons of level nine, the first being in 2003. In 2004, Michelle had much more success than in 2003. She qualified to the Eastern Championships.
Michelle's first year as a level ten in 2005 was successful. In late 2004, she competed at the Music City Invitational. At the Atlanta Crown in 2005, she finished second all-around. Michelle won the Georgia State All-Around Title. In 2006, Michelle competed in many states. She won floor in a highly competitive field at the IGI Chicago Style and Atlanta Crown. At the State Championships, she finished third all-around. Michelle placed fourth at Regionals, qualifying to the JO National Championships. Michelle soon qualified to junior international elite. At the US Classic, she qualified to the US National Championships where she ended her season.
She decided to compete level ten only in 2007. At the JO National Championships, she finished 12th all-around. She placed in the top ten on vault, bars and floor. Her highest finish was third on floor. In 2008, she won floor and the all-around at the National Gymnastics Challenge. She won a bronze medal in the all-around at States. She qualified to JO Nationals where she finished in the top ten on vault.
In 2009, she finished second all-around at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. She also finished second on vault and floor. She won bars and the all-around at the Palm Beach Invitational. She finished second all-around at States. She won floor. Michelle next won the National Gymnastics Challenge. On the individual events, she won vault, finished second on bars, and third on beam and floor. At Regionals, she finished third all-around. She won floor. She ended her season at JO Nationals. She finished third on vault and first on beam! Along with the JO Season, she also competed in high school gymnastics. She led her team to first place at the State Championships while scoring a perfect 10 on floor. Individually, she won beam, floor and the all-around.
Michelle had a strong conclusion to her club career in 2010. She placed second all-around at the Sand Dollar Invitational and Tiger Paw Classic. She won vault and the all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup. Michelle finished first on beam and the all-around at the Spring Break-Out meet. At the State Championships, she finished first on beam and third all-around. Michelle placed first on beam and second all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed eighth on vault and second on floor. She finished 17th all-around.
As a freshman at Iowa State in 2011, Michelle earned the first Big 12 Newcomer of the Week award. She earned the award twice more in February. She also earned Big 12 Gymnast of the Week in February. She won at least one event title in her first seven meets. She won beam against Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska. She finished first all-around at BYU and at NCSU. She finished first all-around against Oklahoma.
