Chelsea Shu was born on October 9, 1997. She trains at All Olympia Gymnastics Center in Los Angeles, California.
In 2005, Chelsea competed level five. She swept the gold medals at the 1st Prelim and Judges Cup. At the 3rd Prelim, she finished third all-around. Chelsea placed in the top ten at the West Sectional meet. At the State Championships, she placed second all-around. She moved up to level six in 2006. Chelsea won the all-around at the AOGC Invitational. She placed third all-around and the 2nd Prelim and second at the 3rd Prelim. At the Sectional meet, she placed fourth all-around. Chelsea finished third all-around at the State Championships. She also finished second on vault, third on bars and third on beam. She made the National TOPs Team.
She immediately moved into level seven in January of 2007. She finished first on bars, beam and in the all-around at the Golden State Friendship Challenge. At the State Championships, she own bars and floor. She finished second all-around. In the fall, she made the National TOPs Team. Chelsea moved up to level eight in 2008. She won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. At the AOGC Invitational, she won vault, bars and floor. She placed first on bars, floor and in the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed first on bars, third on floor and fifth all-around.
Chelsea competed level eight in the first part of the 2009 season before moving up to level nine. She finished first on floor and second on beam at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on bars, first on floor and sixth all-around. She qualified for Westerns but did not compete. In 2010, Chelsea moved up to level ten. She finished second all-around at the AOGC Invitational and Long Beach Open. At State, she won beam. She placed second on floor and in the all-around. She ended her season at Regionals.
