Anna Shumaker was born on January 17, 1992. She trained at Michael Anthony's through the 2005 season. She then moved to Black Diamond Gymnastics for one year before joining Pacific West. She graduated from high school in 2010.

In 2002, Anna competed level five. She won bars and the all-around at the Spooktacular. She finished fourth all-around at the State Championships. She placed second on vault and bars. She competed level six in 2003. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Judges Cup. She won vault and the all-around at the Zone Championships. At the State Championships, she placed first on vault, bars, beam and the all-around. Her score was also one of the top six out of all competitors, earning her a spot on the NorCal State Team. Anna immediately began competing level seven in 2004. She finished fourth on bars and eleventh all-around at the State Championships.

Anna moved up to level eight in 2005. She finished in the top ten all-around at the State Championships. She also placed in the top ten all-around at Regionals. In 2006, Anna continued competing level eight. She finished third all-around at the Bridgette Clement Memorial Invitational. She finished fourth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third all-around and first on beam. Anna competed level nine in 2008. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Roseville Invitational. She won bars and beam at the Hard Rock Invitational. Anna finished first on vault and beam at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. She won vault, floor and the all-around at the Golden State Classic. At the State Championships, Anna placed first on all five events! At Regionals, she won bars, beam, floor and the all-around. At Westerns, Anna won vault, bars, floor and the all-around! She placed second on beam.

She began competing level ten in 2009. Anna placed second on vault and bars at the Lady Luck Invitational. She finished fourth all-around at the Hard Rock Invitational, Spirit of the Flame Challenge and Golden State Classic. At the State Championships, she placed second all-around. She finished fourth all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished 14th all-around! In 2010, Anna won bars and beam at the Delta Classic. She won beam and the all-around at the Golden State Classic. She did not compete in the championship season.
