Megan Skaggs was born on May 7, 1999. She trained at Georgia All-Stars until 2008. She then moved to Gymnastics Academy of Atlanta.
In 2006, Megan competed as a level four. At the AAU State Championships, she won beam. She moved up to level five in 2007. She won vault at the AAU State Championships. In 2009, Megan competed level seven. She won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Flip Fest Invitational. She won bars and beam at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the National Gymnastics Challenge, she won beam, floor and the all-around. Megan won floor and placed third all-around at the State Championships. At the Region 8 Invitational, she won beam, floor and the all-around. She made the National TOPs Team in the fall.
Megan moved up to level nine in 2010. She won vault at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. She finished third on floor at the Buckeye Classic in the hopes elite division. At the Mardi Gras Invitational, she won floor. Megan won floor and placed third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won beam. In 2011, Megan competed level ten. She finished first on vault and floor at the Atlanta Crown Invitational. At the Spring Fling meet, she won beam, floor and the all-around. Megan finished first on floor and third all-around at the National Gymnastics Challenge. At the State Championships, she placed second on floor. Megan finished in the top twenty all-around at Regionals.
