Emma Slappey was born on April 16, 1997. She trains at Starlight Gymnastics in Florida.

In 2005, Emma competed as a level four. She finished fourth all-around at States. She placed second on bars, third on beam and fourth on vault. She moved up to level five in 2006. She placed third all-around at the Black Jack Invite. She finished first on vault and second on bars. At the Jungle Gym, Emma won vault, beam and the all-around with a second place finish on bars. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Aloha Invitational. She finished second on floor. Emma placed third all-around at the Level 5 State Championships. She placed second on vault, bars, and beam. She finished third on floor.

She moved up to level seven in 2008. Emma placed second on floor at the WOGA Classic. She did not compete all-around. She placed third on vault at the Sand Dollar Invitational. At the Mardi Gras Invitational, Emma won vault, beam, floor and the all-around. She finished third on bars. At the Leprechaun Classic, she won vault, beam and floor. She finished second all-around. Emma placed second on vault, bars and in the all-around at States.

She began competing level eight in 2009. She finished second on vault and bars at the Battle of the Champions meet. She finished fourth all-around. At the Metroplex Challenge, she placed second on vault. She won vault and floor at the Palm Beach Invitational. She finished second all-around. At States, Emma won vault, bars and the all-around. She earned a spot on the Florida State Team for Regionals. She won vault at Regionals. Emma also qualified to hopes in 2009.

Emma began competing level ten in 2010. She finished first on floor at the Tampa Bay Classic. At the Tim Rand Invitational, she won vault, floor and the all-around. Emma finished first on floor and second all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed second on vault and floor. She finished eleventh all-around at the JO National Invitational Tournament. In 2011, she finished third on floor at the Daytona Beach Open. She won bars at the Tim Rand Invitational. Emma finished third on vault at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on beam. Emma finished ninth on floor and 16th all-around at JO Nationals.
