Serena Leong was born on October 19, 1994. Serena trained at Diablo until the summer of 2008. She then followed her coach to Edge Gymnastics. She will graduate from high school in 2012.

In 2003, Serena competed level five. She finished in the top twenty at the Zone Championships. She moved up to level six in the fall of 2004. She competed at the State Championships. Serena competed level seven in 2006. She finished first on beam at the Golden State Classic. She placed second on floor at the All Olympia Invitational. She won bars at the Novato Classic. At the State Championships, she won floor and the all-around. Serena competed level eight in 2007. She finished second all-around at both the Lady Luck Invitational, Golden State Classic and Gold Country Invitational. She won vault, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished second on vault, floor and the all-around.

Serena competed level nine in 2008. She won vault and floor at the Black Tie Invitational. She placed third all-around at the Wine Country Classic. At the IGI Chicago Style, she won vault. Serena did not compete all four events at the State Championships. She placed in the top ten at Regionals. At Westerns, Serena placed first on beam, sixth on floor and fourth all-around. Serena began competing level ten in 2009. She finished first on beam at the Roseville Invitational. She won vault, beam and the all-around at the Golden State Classic. She finished third all-around at the State Championships. Serena finished seventh all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she finished 27th all-around.

She continued competing level ten in 2010. She won beam at the Lady Luck Invitational. At the Wine Country Classic, she finished third all-around. She won beam and floor at the Black Tie Invitational. At the Byers Invitational, she won vault, beam and the all-around. Serena placed second on vault at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished ninth all-around. She finished second on vault and floor at the JO National Invitational Tournament. Serena finished first on vault and beam at the 2011 Delta Classic. She placed second on vault and beam at the National Gymnastics Festival. At the State Championships, she won floor. She finished fifth all-around at Regionals. Serena competed at JO Nationals.
