Hope Sloanhoffer was born in Korea on July 8, 1992. She was adopted at the age of four months. She is the daughter of Cordell and Nancy Sloanhoffer. Her brother, Kenny, also competes in gymnastics with Springfield College. She trained at US Gymnastics Development Center in Mahwah, New Jersey, under Ana Tutes as a level six. She then trained at Galaxy Gymnastics. Hope switched to World Cup midway through the 2004 season. She continued with them until 2005. She moved to Gymnastics Revolution in 2005.
In 2001, she finished second all-around at the Sweetheart Invitational. She competed level five. In 2002, she finished first on bars at the level six state championships. She set a state record. She won a silver medal on beam and floor. Her all-around total set another state record and earned her the first place finish. Hope moved up to level seven in 2003. She set the all-around and vault record at States. Hope also swept the gold medals. She won the Parkette Invitational.
She moved up to level eight in 2003. She won the Regional all-around title. She also won beam. She won a silver on floor and a bronze medal on beam. She competed as a level nine in 2004. Hope competed another year as a level nine in 2005. She finished second all-around at the Lady Luck Invitational with World Cup. In 2006, Hope moved up to level ten. She finished fourth all-around at State Hope won two bronze medals, one on vault and one on bars. At the Regional Championships, she finished third on vault.
She had a great 2007 season.
Hope won the state vault, beam and all-around titles! She finished third on bars and second on floor as well. At Regionals, Hope finished second on vault and fifth all-around. She qualified to the JO National Championships. She ended her season at JO Nationals. In 2008, she finished second all-around at the Rhode Island Invitational. She won beam. At the Aquafina Team Challenge, she finished second all-around. She won a silver medal on vault and a bronze medal on floor. She won the Tampa Bay Turners Invitational. At Regionals, Hope finished third all-around. She qualified for her second JO National Championships.
So far in 2009, Hope has been having strong finishes. At the Parkette Invitational, she placed third all-around. She finished second all-around at the Aquafina Team Challenge and IGI Chicago Style. At States, she won vault, beam, floor and the all-around. She finished second on bars. She finished eighth all-around at Regionals. She placed third on vault and first on floor. She qualified to the Junior Olympic National Invitational Tournament. She tied for first on vault. She finished eighth all-around. Hope has committed to West Virginia University.
