Rachel Slocum was born on February 23, 1996. She trained at Red Cedar Gymnastics through the 2007 season. She then moved to Sonshine. She will graduate from high school in 2014.

In 2005, Rachel competed level five. She finished seventh on floor at the State Championships. She moved up to level six in 2006. In 2007, Rachel finished 12th all-around at the Level 7 State Championships. She continued competing level seven in 2008. She won vault at the State Championships. She placed second all-around. In 2009, Rachel competed level nine. She won vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the NRG Challenge. At the Sand Dollar Invitational, she won vault. She won vault, beam and floor at the Sweetheart Invitational. At the Charleston Cup, she won vault. She won vault, beam and the all-around at the KPAC Cup. Rachel won vault and placed second all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault and floor. She finished second all-around.

Rachel moved up to level nine in 2010. She finished second on beam at the Charleston Cup. At the State Championships, she won floor. She won beam and floor at Regionals. She placed second on vault and in the all-around. At Easterns, she finished third on floor and twelfth all-around. In 2011, Rachel finished first on vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Brick City Winterfest. She placed second all-around at the Pikes Peak Cup. At the Courtney Kupets Invitational, she won vault, floor and the all-around. Rachel placed first on floor and second all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault, beam, and floor. She finished second all-around. Rachel finished second all-around at Easterns! She placed fifth on vault, second on beam and first on floor.
