Skyler Memmel was born on January 17, 1997. She trains at M&M Gymnastics where she is coached by her dad, Andy Memmel. She has two sisters; Chellsie and Mara who have both participated in gymnastics.

In 2005, she competed as a level seven. Skyler won the all-around at the Salto Invitational, tying with teammate Bailey Fitzpatrick. She also won floor. In the fall, she made the National TOPs Diamond Team. She moved up to level eight in 2006. She won the all-around at the Circle of Stars Invitational. She also won bars and beam. At the Harley Davidson Meet, Skyler won beam. Bailey made the National TOPs Team in the fall.

Skyler continued competing as a level eight in 2007. She finished second all-around at the Season Opener. She won bars. At the Circle of Stars Invitational, Skyler finished first on floor and second on beam. At States, she finished second on bars. Bailey ended her season at Regionals. She won beam and finished fourth all-around. She qualified to the National TOP "A" Team in the fall.

In 2008, Skyler qualified to hopes pre-elite. She placed in the top half of the field at the US Challenge. She placed second on beam. She also competed as a level nine. In 2009, Skyler moved up to level ten. She won all five gold medals at the Midwest Challenge. She finished fifth all-around at States. She won silver medals on beam and floor. At Regionals, she finished 15th all-around. Under hopes, she finished fourth all-around at the Palm Beach National Qualifier. She finished second on floor.
