Caroline Smith was born on October 24, 1994. She is the daughter of Dale and Cindy Smith. She trains at Infinite Bounds Gymnastics under Cindy Dove and Todd Wyatts. She will graduate from Plano Senior High in 2013.

In the fall of 2001, Caroline began competing as a level five. She finished second on bars at the Folger's New Year Invitational. She won bars at Jill's Jubilee. She competed level five until 2003. She began competing as a level seven in 2004. She finished second all-around at HUGS Winter Warmup. At the New Year's Invitational, she finished third all-around. Carolina placed third all-around at the Metroplex Challenge. At North State, she finished sixth all-around. She improved at States to finished fourth all-around.

She competed two years of level eight. In 2005, she finished first all-around at the Friendship Cup. At the Yellow Rose Classic, she also won the all-around title. At States, Carolina finished fourth on bars. In 2006, she finished first on vault and bars at the Candy Cane Classic. At the National Judges Cup she won beam and floor. She finished second all-around at the Metroplex Challenge, Candy Cane Classic and National Judges Cup. She won bars, beam and the all-around at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. Caroline won the Yellow Rose Classic on beam. At States, she finished first all-around and first on floor. She won a silver medal on beam. Her last level eight meet was Regionals. She won a silver medal on floor.

Caroline moved up to level nine in 2007. She won bars and beam at the Conoco-Phillips meet. At the Candy Cane Classic she won the all-around title. Caroline won every event except for vault at the Metroplex Challenge. At the WOGA Classic, she won beam and finished second on bars. She switched those two placements at the Magical Classic. She won the all-around title at the Heart of Texas Meet. At States, Caroline finished second all-around. She won bars. At Regionals, she won the all-around title! She also won beam. Her last meet of the season was Westerns. She finished seventh all-around. Caroline won bars and finished second all-around.

Her first year as a level ten was in 2008. She finished second on vault and second all-around at the Conoco-Phillips meet. At the Candy Cane Classic she finished third all-around. She competed under the elite code at the Metroplex Challenge. At States, she qualified for Regionals. Caroline had a good Regional meet. She made junior pre-elite in May! She competed at the US Challenge. In December, she won bars, floor and the all-around at the Candy Cane Classic. Caroline continued competing level ten in 2009. She won the vault and all-around titles at the Kurt Thomas Invitational. She finished second on bars at the Texas Prime Meet. She only competed bars and beam at the Texas Prime Meet, Metroplex Challenge and WOGA Classic. She returned to all-around at the Houston National Invitational. At the Rose City Classic, she finished second all-around. She won bars. At the State Championships, she finished sixth all-around.
