Sydney Snead was born on May 30, 1997. She trained at Gymcarolina through the 2007 season. She then moved to Sonshine.
In 2006, Sydney competed level six. She placed fifth all-around at the Capital City Invitational. She also competed as a novice. She placed first on bars and in the all-around at the Twin City Invitational. She finished second on bars at the Hang 10.0 meet. She competed level seven in 2007. Sydney placed sixth all-around at the State Championships. In 2008, she moved up to level eight. She finished fourth all-around and second on bars at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed in the top twenty.
Sydney moved up to level nine in 2009. She won bars and the all-around at the NRG Challenge and Sweetheart meet. At the Charleston Cup, she won floor and the all-around. Sydney won beam at the KPAC Cup. She placed sixth all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she won vault. She continued competing level nine in 2010. She won bars at the Classic Rock Invitational. At the Sweetheart meet, she won beam, floor and the all-around. At the Charleston Cup, she won beam and the all-around. Sydney won beam and floor at the State Championships. She also placed second all-around. At Regionals, she won beam and floor. She finished sixth all-around. Sydney placed third all-around at Easterns. She also finished second on vault and beam.
Sydney began competing level ten in 2011. She won vault, bars, beam and the all-around at the Brick City Winterfest. At the Sweetheart Invite, she placed first on bars, floor and the all-around. Sydney won vault and the all-around at the Courtney Kupets Invitational. She finished first on vault, beam, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed first on beam, floor and the all-around. Sydney placed fifth on vault and floor at JO Nationals. She finished seventh all-around.
