Desire' Joanita Sniatynski was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on December 11, 1985. She is the daughter of John and Diane Sniatynski. She has two brothers, Cooper and Mason. She graduated from Bradford High School in 2004.
During her club career, Desire' competed for Scamps Gymnastics under Coach Randy Anderson. She was on the TOPs National Team in 1997. Desire' qualified to the JO Nationals six times. She competed level ten for nine years. She placed second on bars at the 2001 JO Nationals. She finished seventh all-around in 2001 and 2002.
Her freshman season was in 2005. She competed on vault and bars but also competed on beam a few times. She also competed in the all-around. She earned second-team All-America honors on bars. As a sophomore, she was a solid three-event competitor. She earned All-Big 12 honors on bars and claimed the conference bars titles. She earned second-team All-America accolades on bars. She did all-around in the first four meets. As a junior in 2007, Desire' was one of the top all-around competitors for Nebraska. She earned All-American on bars again. She earned Big 12 Gymnast-of-the-Week on January 31 after winning the all-around against Missouri. She finished second in the all-around against Iowa State. She took second in the all-around against Oklahoma and Utah. At the Big 12 Championships, she finished fourth on bars earning all-conference honors. She was a major contributor to Nebraska's success at Regionals and the NCAA Nationals, earning career highs during the Super Six.
Desire' finished her college career by earning career highs on vault, bars, beam and the all-around during 2008. She won six bars titles and two beam titles. She was named Big 12 Gymnast-of-the-Week twice. She earned first-team All-American honors on uneven bars. She was named to the All-Big 12 team on uneven bars and in the all-around.
