Skyler Sheppard was born on December 6, 1996. She has two sisters, Austin and Quincy, who are also gymnasts. She trained at University of Gymnastics until 2006. She then switched to Plano Unlimited with a few of her coaches. The gym was re-named Golden Grip in the fall of 2009. Skyler moved to WOGA in the fall of 2011. She will graduate from high school in 2015.
In 2004, Skyler competed level five. She finished first on beam and in the all-around at the District Qualifier. At the District Championships, she placed third all-around and first on beam. At the North State Championships, she finished third all-around. She placed second on beam and third on bars. At the State Championships, she won floor and placed third beam. In 2005, Skyler competed level seven. She moved up to level eight in 2006. She continued competing level eight in 2007. She finished fourth on beam at the State Championships. In 2008, Skyler finished third on beam at the WOGA Classic. She qualified to Regionals as a level eight. She placed in the top twenty.
Skyler competed level nine in 2009. She won floor at the Metroplex Challenge. She won beam, floor and the all-around at the Rose City Classic. She did not compete on floor at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on beam and ninth all-around. Skyler continued competing level nine in 2010. She finished in the top ten at the Metroplex Challenge. At the WOGA Classic, she placed fourth on floor. She also finished in the top ten at the Rose City Classic. At the State Championships, she placed in the top twenty. Skyler ended her season at Regionals. In 2011, Skyler began competing level ten. She finished fourth all-around at the Alamo Classic. She placed in the top fifteen at the State Championships. Skyler competed at Regionals.
