Stephanie Stamates was born on April 28, 1994. She trained at Diablo Gymnastics through the fall of 2004. She then moved to West Coast Olympic Gymnastics Academy for one season. She spent two years with California Gymnastics Academy before moving to Bay Aerials. Stephanie returned to California Gymnastics Academy in the summer of 2010 after her Bay Aerial coaches moved there. She will graduate from high school in 2012.

In 2003, Stephanie competed level five. She finished third on beam at the Spooktacular. She finished fourth on vault at the Zone Championships. She competed at the State Championships. Stephanie competed level six in the fall of 2004. She immediately moved up to level seven in the spring of 2005. She finished in the top twenty at the State Championships. She continued competing level seven in 2006. She finished second on bars at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge. She placed third on beam and fifth all-around at the State Championships.

Stephanie moved up to level eight in 2007. She finished third at the International Cup and Bridgette Clement Memorial Invitational. She finished tenth at the State Championships. She placed in the top ten at Regionals. She began competing level nine in 2008. She won bars at the Wine Country Classic and Golden State Classic. She finished sixth at the State Championships. She competed at Regionals. In 2009, Stephanie finished second at the Lady Luck Invitational and San Diego Classic. She placed first on beam and floor at the Valentine Invitational. Stephanie finished third at the Spirit of the Flame Challenge and Golden State Classic. At the State Championships, she won vault. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at Regionals. At Westerns, she placed second on bars, beam and the all-around.

She began competing level ten in 2010. She finished third all-around at the Red Heart 10.0 Invitational. She finished second at the San Diego Classic. Stephanie placed fourth at both the Battle in Seattle and Golden State Classic. She won floor at the Byers Invitational. At the State Championships, she won floor and finished second all-around. She placed third on floor and tenth all-around at Regionals. At the JO National Invitational Tournament, Stephanie placed third on bars and second on floor. In 2011, Stephanie won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Battle in Seattle meet. She finished third all-around at the Vegas Cup. At the Spirit of the Flame Challenge, shew on floor and the all-around. Stephanie finished fifth all-around at the State Championships. She finished seventh all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed fourth on beam. She finished 22nd all-around.
