Wesley Stephenson was born on September 13, 1999. She trained at Premier Gymnastics West through the 2010 season. She then moved to Legacy Elite Gymnastics.

In 2008, Wesley competed level five. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Twistars Invitational. At the Cupid's Twist meet, she won all five gold medals. Wesley won vault, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. She moved up to level six in the fall. She won bars and the all-around at the Fall Fling. Wesley competed level seven in 2009. She finished first all-around at the Twistars Invitational. She placed second all-around at both the Wisconsin Dells Vacation Classic and For Love or Money meet. At the Midwest Open, she won floor. Wesley finished first on bars and floor at the State Championships. Wesley made the National TOPs Team in the fall.

Wesley moved up to level eight in 2010. She placed first all-around at the For Love or Money meet. At the Bravo Classic, she won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the Bravo Classic. At the State Championships, she placed third on vault and fourth all-around. At Regionals, she placed fifth on vault. Wesley began competing level nine in 2011. She won bars at the CGA Coaches Spectacular. At the Bravo Classic, she placed second all-around and first on beam.
