Alyssa Straub was born on February 7, 1992. Her mother's name is Aurelia. She began gymnastics at Parkettes. She has trained at Parkettes for most of her competitive career. In 2004, she competed for Girls Co-Op. Alyssa currently competes as a level ten.

In 2001, Alyssa competed as a level five. She finished second all-around at the Level 5 State Championships. She qualified to the National TOPs Testing. Alyssa jumped up to level seven in 2002. She advanced to level eight in 2003. At the Level Eight Sectional Championships, she finished third all-around. She then moved on to the State meet. In 2004, Alyssa competed as a level nine. She qualified to Regionals. After returning to Parkettes in 2005, Alyssa competed another season of level nine. She finished third on every event at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed in the top ten. This qualified her for the Eastern Championships. Alyssa finished in the top twenty!

Her first season as a level ten was in 2006. She finished fourth all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. After States, Alyssa competed at Regionals. She was the alternate for JO Nationals. In 2007, she has continued competing as a level ten. She finished third all-around at the Parkette Invitational. At States, Alyssa won the all-around and vault titles! She went on to finish fifth at Regionals. This qualified her for the JO National Championships.

She competed as a level ten in 2008. At States, she finished second on vault. She also finished eighth all-around. Alyssa placed fourth all-around at Regionals. She won a bronze medal on vault. She ended her season with a top fifteen all-around finish at JO Nationals. She placed in the top ten on vault. In December, she finished third on vault and beam at the Christmas on the Chesapeake meet. Alyssa continued to improve in the 2009 season. Alyssa won the all-around at the Brestyan's Invitational. She placed second all-around at the Maryland Classic. She won beam. She finished sixth all-around at the Fiesta Bowl Invitational. At States, she won a silver medal on vault and a bronze medal on bars. Alyssa finished 2nd all-around at Regionals. She won floor. She ended her season by placing 16th all-around at JO Nationals. She won vault!
