Kayla Sukert was born on March 3, 1995. She trained at SCATS Huntington Beach until 2005. She then moved to Gym-Max. She began training at Team OC Gymnastics in 2007.

In 2003, Kayla competed level five. She finished seventh on beam at the State Championships. She moved up to level six in 2004. She finished eighth all-around at West Sectionals. She also competed at the State Team Championships. In 2006, Kayla competed level seven. She won a silver medal on beam at the Surf City Classic. She finished in the top ten on beam at the State Championships.

Kayla competed level eight in 2007. She finished fourth on beam at the IGHOF Invitational. At the Heart of a Champion Invitational, she won beam and finished fourth all-around. Kayla placed second on beam at the Golden State Friendship Challenge. At States, she won beam and placed sixth all-around. She ended her season with a top ten finish at Regionals. Kayla only competed one meet in 2008. She won a bronze medal on beam as a level nine at the California Classic. She continued to compete level nine in 2009. She finished fifth all-around at the Hardrock Invitational. She placed third all-around at the Heart of a Champion Invitational. She did well at the State Championships. She competed at the Maccabi Games in July. In 2010, Kayla competed in one meet. She competed on floor at the Malibu Coast Challenge.
