Maci Sump was born on April 13, 1993. She trains at Gedderts' Twistars. She will graduate from high school in 2011.

In 2004, Maci competed level five. She won beam and floor at the State Championships. In the fall, she won floor and the all-around at the Early State Championships. In the spring of 2005, Maci won bars, beam, floor and the all-around at the State Championships. In 2006, Maci finished second all-around at the IGI Chicago Style as a level seven. As a level eight, she qualified for Regionals where she won floor. Maci moved up to level nine in 2007. She won vault, bars, floor and the all-around at the Motown Madness meet. At the California Classic, she finished third all-around. She ended her season at Easterns, placing fourth all-around.

Maci continued competing level nine in 2008. She finished second all-around at the For Love or Money meet. At the State Championships, she won the all-around title. She finished second on bars at Easterns. In 2009, Maci placed second in the all-around as a level ten at the IGI Chicago Style. She finished fourth on bars at the State Championships. At Regionals, she finished second on beam and ninth all-around. Maci ended her season by placing sixth at the JO National Invitational Tournament. In 2010, Maci finished second on bars at the State Championships. She finished third all-around at Regionals. At JO Nationals, she placed 19th all-around.
