Lauren Swakoski was born on March 30, 1991. She trained at KMC Gymnastics through the 2008 season. She then moved to First State Gymnastics in Delaware. Lauren graduated from high school in 2009.

In 2004, Lauren competed level nine. She finished fifth all-around at Regionals. She competed at Easterns. She moved up to level ten in 2005. Lauren finished 15th all-around at Regionals. In 2006, she finished eighth all-around at Regionals, earning the alternate spot for JO Nationals. Lauren qualified to JO Nationals in 2007. In 2008, Lauren finished second on floor at the Team Challenge. She won floor and finished third all-around at the State Championships. At Regionals, she placed third on beam and floor. Lauren finished seventh on floor, tenth on beam and eleventh all-around at JO Nationals.

Lauren continued competing level ten in 2009. She finished fourth on bars at the Maryland Classic. She won all five gold medals at the State Championships. At Regionals she finished fifth all-around. Lauren placed tenth on vault, fifth on beam, second on floor and seventh all-around at JO Nationals! As a freshman at Missouri in 2010, she competed in the all-around at her first meet, finishing second all-around. She continued competing in the all-around throughout the season. She won floor against Centenary.
