Glyn Sweets was born in Alexandria, Virginia on July 12th, 1985. Her parents are Fred Sweets and Denise Borders. She lived in Reston, Virginia most of her life. She trained with Kelli Hill and Jen Bundy at Hill's Angels for most of her elite career.
In 1998, she competed as a junior national elite. She placed third all-around at the National Gymnastics Festival. She also qualified for the JO National Championships. At the 1999 US National Championships Glyn placed fourth all-around. She didn't compete much in 2000 because of injuries but did compete in 2001. She did a few events at the 2001 US Classic and petitioned into the National Championships. At Nationals she finished fourth on beam. Glyn also finished 14th all-around. She was two places short of making the senior national team. Glyn dropped back to level 10 for 2002. She won the Senior A all-around title. She also won bars and floor with two silvers on vault and beam.
Glyn moved clear across the country for college. She started attending Stanford as a freshman in 2002. Her first NCAA season was in 2003. She earned Second-Team All-America honors on vault and beam. She mostly competed on vault, bars and beam. In 2004, she battled injuries. She competed on bars at the Super Six. She competed on all four events throughout the season. As a junior, she missed the last six meets because of an injury. She finished second on vault and bars against Oregon State. As a senior, she competed on vault, bars and beam.
